Today is officially my one year anniversary at my work...since I have still have a week and half left of maternity leave, this means they will cash out my week of vacation and pay me for it, but I will not be eligible to actually take the time for vacation. That is kind of lame, but at the same time, perfect timing because we're running low on funds. I timed it just right for coming back to work.
Today was also a super lazy day. Lazy days are good sometimes, and needed. I did manage to get the diapers through the wash and put away, but that's pretty much it as far doing stuff. Eli was taking a nap after watching a movie, and Martyn had just woken up from his nap, so I decided to clean up the kitchen too.
I set Martyn up on the table at the end of the kitchen, in the sunny corner, and turned on the ipod doc. I got the dish washer loaded, and started to wash the rest of the dishes, and the sink wouldn't drain....and backed up into the other side even. I tried plunging it, to no avail.
About that time Eli got up from his nap and I told him we needed some liquid plumber. So he went to ACE and got the foam.
That was probably around 5:30 or so, which is when we needed to be getting started on dinner. I had told Eli his only thing on my honey-do list for him today was to take care of dinner and he was more than happy to do it. Then the whole sink thing happened, so that delayed dinner. I decided to give Martyn a bath since he was kind of gripey, while we were waiting for the foam to work.
When we were done with the bath, Eli told me the foam didn't work so he was going to go to Home Depot to get the real liquid plumber. I figured Martyn and I may has well just go with him for something to do. That was about 8pm. Still no dinner. As we were pulling out of the driveway Eli says to me "should we stay here and have dinner first?" I was like no, we're in the car already, let's just go.
So when we got home, the foam had worked. So now we have a bottle of liquid plumber for the next time this happens. I decided to put Martyn to bed while Eli made dinner, which ended up taking me nearly an hour to do. That boy!
Oh well. I guess we're allowed to have days of major FAIL once in a while. No one got hurt, nothing was broken....we just failed at any kind of being productive today. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better, ha!
That's life. These days I find having a major to-do list helps me be "productive" but YOU have to count productivity, at least in part, as all the loving you're pouring on Martyn.
