Today was mostly spent just hanging out at home, getting ready to go up to the grand parents house in the gorge. We went to the store and Martyn slept pretty much the whole time. He sure does like riding in the car.
This trip is the test run for over night visiting…. preparing for going to San Diego…and for future over night visits to grammie and grandpa’s house.
Also a travel time test run…. though riding in the car seat is different from riding on mama’s lap on the plane for 2 hours.
It’s a lot of fun to watch Eli’s parents be so excited to love on my little boy. When we got here tonight, they both were standing at the door just grinning ear to ear to have Martyn up to their house for the first time, and it’s his first overnight visit away from home.
They both are just so happy to be first time grand parents and it’s so cool.
It’s hard, but kind of gratifying at the same time, to let them comfort him for now. To just spend time with him. He’s kind of fussy, not like freaking out or anything…more like just whiny. They are totally just doting on him, and it’s great. It’s amazing how a calm spirit, has the effect of calming a baby. In this case it’s a calm, and peaceful atmosphere. For the most part anyway…this place usually has that effect on me too.
This is another part of being a parent, I didn’t quite expect…(I’m finding more and more of those as the days go by) to enjoy letting him be comforted by someone other than me…. even though it’s someone who loves him like crazy…just like I do.
