I can't believe my baby boy is 11 months already! I mean look at him, like such a big boy sitting on the potty!
Here's where he is developmentally now.
Martyn is almost walking. In fact, he is physically capable of walking and has taken a few steps (resting his hands on our hands) but is not quite confident enough yet, to take those steps totally free. He will take a step with one foot, unassisted....but keep his other foot firmly planted. He has totally out grown almost all of his 9 month clothes and several of the 9-12 months, and is already well on his way to 12-18 months size clothes (the shirt he's wearing in this pic is for 18 months).

Martyn is a little chatter box, all the time. The words we can understand, and that he uses in the correct context, are "doggie, Sheba, Sissy, Bradley, Dada (or Daddy) and Mama"....although he still hardly says Mama, most of the time Dada seems to be interchangeable for both of us. Bradly is my baby sitter's dogs name, and Sissy is his grandparents' dog's name....Martyn loves him some dogs! He doesn't say no with his mouth, but he signs "all done" or "finished" when he implies "no". He knows and does the motions for the song "the wheels on the bus"....which is really cute. He doesn't sign the word for more, but seems to understand if you ask him if he wants more to eat. He's started eating more solid food, like spaghetti and macaroni....which he loves! I'm glad the gag reflex seems to have gone away some.
So in this picture, I have him sitting on the potty chair. We have not "officially" started potty training, because he's still a bit young. However, he's not to young to start introducing the "potty" and letting him build some curiosity for it. As of right now, he's even peed in the potty a few times when we've sat him on it. He's willing to sit on it for a while too. He is really good about alerting us (most of the time) if he needs a diaper change, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that means he will potty train pretty early.
He's still not quite sleeping through the night. I'm at a loss as of what to do about that. He is sleeping in the crib, and staying in it the whole night, even if I come and nurse him back down in the middle of the night. So that's good. He was sleeping the whole night through about 10% of the time, but now it's down to about 5% of the time I'd say. So we took a step backward for that one, but that's ok. I think there are several factors involved, so we'll see how he's doing in another month.
